{"id":2,"date":"2006-05-07T11:43:09","date_gmt":"2006-05-07T09:43:09","guid":{"rendered":""},"modified":"2022-06-14T13:07:00","modified_gmt":"2022-06-14T11:07:00","slug":"about","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/freebeer.org\/blog\/about","title":{"rendered":"About"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>FREE BEER<\/strong><br \/>\n<em>Free Beer<\/em> is a beer which is free as in \u201cfree speech,\u201d not in the sense of \u201cfree beer.\u201d The name plays on a well-known quote by the free software activist Richard Stallman: \u201c\u2018Free software\u2019 is a matter of liberty, not price.\u201d Free Beer aims to create a counter-system to copyright, which is a regulative system of law and metaphorical rights.<\/p>\n<p>Originally named <em>Vores \u00d8l<\/em> (Our Beer), the beer was conceived in 2004 by SUPERFLEX and students from the Copenhagen IT University. The project applies modern free and open-source methods to a traditional real-world product. The recipe and branding elements of <em>Free Beer<\/em> are published under a Creative Commons (Attribution-ShareAlike 2.5) license, granting anyone the right to use the recipe and logo, or to create a derivative of the recipe and name. The initial version of <em>Free Beer<\/em> is based on classic ale brewing traditions, but with added guaran\u00e1 for a natural energy boost.<\/p>\n<p><em>Free Beer<\/em> has been brewed in breweries, workshops and kitchens worldwide, with and without SUPERFLEX\u2019s participation, including in Taipei, Sao Paolo, Los Angeles, Munich, Knoxville, Lausanne, Cornwall, Bolzano and Auckland.<\/p>\n<p>More information: <a href=\"https:\/\/superflex.net\/works\/free_beer\">https:\/\/superflex.net\/works\/free_beer<\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>What others have said about FREE BEER:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&#8220;As everyone knows free beer will make you drink more and get drunk.
